Departure after breakfast when you wish from your hotel or apartment in Sofia. Our driver will meet you at the reception in the hotel or at your apartment. It takes 2 hours to get to the Rila Monastery, where you have about 1 hour for sightseeing. Rila Monastery is the biggest active male orthodox monastery in Bulgaria, founded by the first Bulgarian hermit- Saint Ivan Rilski in the 10th century. After the big fire in 1833 the monastery was rebuilt anew, the only building which remained from the old monastery is the defense tower. In the Monastery you will have the chance to visit: The Church “Birth of the Holly Virgin” with the relics of Saint John of Rila (Ivan Rilski), the coffin of Tsar Boris III, the monastery kitchen /called Magernitsa/, Hrelyo’s defence tower, history and monastery economy museum. On the way to Borovets you can stop for a home made honey and test. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach Borovets where you have about 30 minutes to see the oldest Bulgarian winter resort. From Borovets we go to Plovdiv, which is about 2 hours drive. Free time in Plovdiv up to 4 hours. Plovdiv is one of the oldest European cities, life never stopped here for 6000 years. Witness the Thracian, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Bulgarian traces and architecture. In Plovdiv you will have the chance to visit: Plovdiv old town, Roman theatre, Constantine and Elena church, Historical museum, Ethnographic museum, new town of Plovdiv, main pedestrianized and shopping street, ancient Roman Stadium, Roman forum, Roman Odeon, Djumaya mosque, old clock tower, Garden of Tsar Simeon with its Singing fountains, Plovdiv hills, known as "Tepeta". After about 1 hour and 40 minutes you will back in Sofia in your hotel.
